This past holiday weekend brought me and @silsetham to Gulf Shores, Alabama to visit friends and, of course, I couldn’t not look into getting a tattoo added to my travel sleeve! I did a bit of research before going, just in case I would have time, and found that not only did @theempiretattoo take walk-ins on weekends in the summer, they were incredibly highly rated – can’t get any better than that combination! Unfortunately, I arrived on Friday at 12:30pm and they had 15 people in front of me and I just couldn’t wait. Thankfully, I had time to go back on Sunday, arrived promptly when they opened at 12pm and I was the first (and only for over an hour) in line!
Whenever I look into a shop where I’ll be walking in, I always have a couple of artists I hope will be working that day and available when it’s my turn – even though I know not to get my hopes up because what are the chances of that, right?! Well, apparently luck was on my side because I fell in love with @tattoosbyleif’s portfolio while scrolling the shop’s Instagram page and he happened to be the one to do my tattoo! I chose to go with the camellia flower, as it’s Alabama’s state flower and he absolutely killed the design! I am so happy I chose to go back in because this may be my favorite travel tattoo yet! If you find yourself anywhere near this shop, you have to stop in!
