Mani Monday – Nailtopia Beauty Ultimate Wear Top Coat

May 23, 2022

Thank you to @nailtopia for sending me your Ultimate Wear Top Coat ($10 for .41 ounces – https://rstyle.me/+R3nC_t6e8EqRY6Q6XspeoA)!

What it claims:
🔘 Apply over your nail for an ultra-rich, gel-like shine
🔘 Reacts to natural light, so no need for a special UV lamp
🔘 The Hexanal and Bio-Ceramics help strengthen, nourish & extend the wear of the nail lacquer up to 14 days

My verdict?
To say this manicure tested my patience would be an understatement! When I first tested out the Ultimate Wear Top Coat, it was at night & on top of a base coat & two (2) coats of color. I let the color dry completely & applied the top coat over it. Immediately, it started to remove some of the color. However, since I had applied two (2) coats of color, it didn’t remove enough to make a visual difference. I then let that top coat dry under copious amounts of unnatural light for over an hour. When I woke up the next morning, my nails were a mess – smudges everywhere (even though there was no transfer). I buffed out all of the damage, applied another coat of color, let it dry, & then top coat again. This time, I painted them during the day (but not outside) & let them dry for a few hours without participating in any intense hand activity. Unfortunately, I bumped a nail on the wall several hours later & the polish bunched up. Although I wanted to give up, I couldn’t knowing I hadn’t thoroughly exposed it to natural light, so I took off all of the polish from the previous two (2) attempts, applied a base coat, only one (1) coat of color, let dry, & then the top coat. Because I only had one (1) coat of color, it took up so much color this time that it did reveal my natural nail. By that point, I was done. So, on my nails in the picture is a base coat, a first coat of color, the Ultimate Wear Top Coat, a second coat of color, & finally one of my favorite fast dry top coats. Since I never paint my nails during the day, if that was the determining factor in my success with this product, I will never reach for it again. Way too much effort when painting my nails at home is already a tedious process.

FYI, I receive a small commission when you shop via the link listed above.
