(Dry) Shampoo Sunday – @Redken5thAve

May 3, 2020

I am constantly on the hunt for the next best dry shampoo and am obviously drawn to those that claim to be high powered. So, when I saw that @redken had created the Deep Clean Dry Shampoo ($24 for 5 ounces – https://shopstyle.it/l/bgQmV), I knew I had to test it out!

What it claims:

🔘 Great for 3 to 4 day hair

🔘 Absorbs heavy oil from all hair types

🔘 Removes greasy looking roots using rice & tapioca starch

🔘 Cooling sensation for a deep clean feel

My experience:

👎🏻 Considering the brand, I expected this to be cheaper per ounce than my favorite, higher end dry shampoo (https://shopstyle.it/l/bgQm4). Unfortunately, it’s actually more expensive. Now, it may more frequently be found on sale, but regularly priced, it’s more.

👍🏻 The scent is nice and strong. That’s a positive, in my opinion, because it’s needed when attempting to refresh your hair along with reducing the oil levels.

👍🏻 It does leave a white residue prior to massaging in, but, as I have mentioned many times in the past, I prefer it leave a cast initially because it shows me where I’ve put the product.

👍🏻 This is probably the most comparable dry shampoo I’ve found to my current favorite. It does a really great job of making my hair look freshly washed.

My verdict?

If this product was just a tiny bit more powerful and slightly less expensive, I would be filling my stock with it. Unfortunately, because I have better for cheaper, I won’t repurchase until a sale is too good to pass up. However, if you happen upon this one at a discount, wonder if it’s good enough to try and you aren’t used to a high potency dry shampoo, I would recommend it.

FYI, I receive a small commission when you shop via the links listed above. There is no additional cost to you.
