I have been on the hunt for the perfect light coverage foundation, so when I heard nothing but positive reviews for the @colourpopcosmetics Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Acid Tinted Moisturizer ($14 for 1.45 ounces – https://shopstyle.it/l/bgdpE), I knew I had to test it out!
What it claims:
🔘 A hydrating, oil-free tinted moisturizer with lightweight coverage that evens skin tone and leaves your skin looking fresh and healthy
🔘 Formulated with hyaluronic acid (aka HA) and coconut water to support skin hydration without adding oil, this tinted moisturizer works for all skin types and makeup styles – just customize your routine to create your own look
🔘 Use a makeup sponge for light coverage, a densely packed flat top brush for medium coverage, or fingertips for on-the-go application
My experience:
🔘 I have worn this on several occasions in conjunction with various moisturizers, primers, concealers and setting powders.
🔘 I have also used it with both a brush and a sponge. While the brush gives me more coverage, I prefer the finish I get with a sponge.
👍🏻 It really is just tinted. Don’t expect much coverage with the first layer. Thankfully, if you have trouble spots (mine is redness), you can build it up to light medium coverage – you just have to be OK using a decent amount of product to do so.
👎🏻 The finish was a satin matte (leaning more matte than satin) and that surprised me because, based on the description and ingredients, I expected it to be more luminous. Honestly, I had hoped for it to be more dewy.
👍🏻👎🏻 It looked really nice upon initial application with any products I paired it with, but as the day would go along, I would experience some caking around my mouth and sides of my nose. It also very slight sunk into the lines in between my eyebrows.
👍🏻 I never had to blot.
My verdict?
Since I adore their Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Creamy Concealer (https://shopstyle.it/l/bgi3F), I expected to love this product. Unfortunately, I was left underwhelmed. It’s nowhere near bad, it just didn’t meet my high expectations. I won’t be repurchasing.
