First Impression Friday – @NARSCosmetics Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bahama

April 10, 2020

Nothing like a good high-end lip product sample to help me save money these days! Today. I am testing out the @narsissist Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bahama ($27 for .086 ounces – https://shopstyle.it/l/bfj9a).

What it claims:

🔘 A cult-favorite, matte lip pencil that delivers the impact of a matte lipstick with the convenience of a pencil

🔘 Saturate lips with rich, vivid pigments and a velvety-matte finish

🔘 This non-drying, long-lasting formula is enriched with vitamin E and emollients for a creamy texture

🔘 The versatile pencil can be paired with other lip products for added dimension, or used as a tinted base

My experience:

👍🏻 I love the applicator. I makes it very easy to precisely line and then fill in.

👍🏻 The texture is nice. Creamy enough, but not to the point of making it so the product bleeds outside of my lip line.

👍🏻 It did make my lips feel more hydrated than if I were wearing nothing.

👎🏻 I don’t love the shade on me. Which is no fault of the product, I just don’t think tones like this are flattering with my coloring.

👍🏻 It lasted a solid few hours and the wear down was good.

My verdict?

While there is really nothing glaringly wrong with this product, I’m not wowed – and I should be for the price. The consistency is good, the pigmentation is good, the lasting power is good, but nothing is great.

FYI, I receive a small commission when you shop via the link listed above. There is no additional cost to you.
