Foundation Friday – @Smashbox Studio Skin Full Coverage 24 Hour Foundation

April 3, 2020

When @glamlifeguru raves about a foundation, this foundation junkie gets in line almost instantly to pick it up! This time around, it was the @smashboxcosmetics Studio Skin Full Coverage 24 Hour Foundation ($36 for 1 ounce – https://shopstyle.it/l/bfgTs).

What it claims:

🔘 A comfortable, 24-hour full coverage foundation that weightlessly glides over skin

🔘 It controls oil & shine & has a blurring effect

🔘 It’s also waterproof, sweat & humidity-resistant, won’t look cakey or cause acne

My experience:

🔘 I have worn this on several occasions, using different moisturizers, primers and setting powders.

👎🏻I was shade matched in store to 2.0 (light w/ warm undertone). Unfortunately, it’s too yellow for me. I probably should have gone with 2.12 (light w/ neutral undertone).

👍🏻 The coverage is high and you don’t need much to achieve it.

👍🏻👎🏻 This isn’t the hardest to blend foundation, but it’s far from the easiest. I definitely have the best luck when I work in small sections.

👍🏻 Immediately after application, examining my skin, it looks very even and pretty close to flawless.

👎🏻 Around hour six (6) and on, I encounter a little bit of cakiness and fading on both sides of my nose.

👍🏻 At no point during the day did it sink into my fine lines.

👍🏻 I wore this for sixteen (16) hours yesterday, in conjunction with all of my current favorite products and I didn’t blot once. An hour or so before I removed it, I could have added powder, but it wasn’t a dire need.

👍🏻 Other than the slight fading around my nose, my face looked nearly as even as it did at the end of the night as it did in the morning.

My verdict?

I like this foundation. The coverage is beautiful, the price is palatable (especially considering you don’t need much to achieve high coverage) and it lasts a really long time on my skin. However, it’s a bit hard to blend and doesn’t keep me as matte as I would like. I will continue to use it with other products and will also try mixing it with my more dewy foundations to add coverage. Once I’ve used it up, expect an update in an empties post!

FYI, I receive a small commission when you shop via the link listed above.
