These days (well, “these days” meaning pre-store closures), I won’t buy a higher end foundation without first getting a sample. Thankfully, @sephora makes that simple and that’s where I picked up the @anastasiabeverlyhills Luminous Foundation ($38 for 1.01 ounces – https://shopstyle.it/l/be9rb).
What it claims:
🔘 A medium-coverage liquid foundation with a luminous, natural finish
🔘 Water-resistant and long-wearing, it applies seamlessly and creates a perfected complexion look
🔘 Available in 50 shades, the lightweight, easy-to-blend formula looks ultra-fresh and blurs any imperfection, including discoloration and unevenness
🔘 Free of parabens and mineral oil
🔘 Vegan, cruelty-free and gluten-free
My experience:
🔘 I was shade matched to 140N (fair skin with a neutral peach undertone).
👍🏻👎🏻 That shade is far too yellow on me, but I was able to make it work by applying a neutral concealer.
👎🏻 I applied dots all over my face and, seeing as though it’s considered a luminous foundation, I wasn’t worried about only working in sections because of dry time. However, that was mistake. This is one of the driest, hardest to blend out foundations I have ever tried.
👎🏻 I had to remove it from my forehead because it looked so cakey and dry. I put more moisturizer down and reapplied. It didn’t look good, but it was passable.
👍🏻👎🏻 I immediately sprayed a hydrating setting spray on top and it helped slightly, but I was still seeing a lot of settling.
👎🏻 As I applied all of my other products on top, I noticed that the foundation was picking up.
👍🏻 I haven’t had to blot once.
👍🏻👎🏻 Now five (5) hours into wear, I will say that it looks a little bit better than it did after initial application. It also looks really good from a distance.
My verdict?
Even though I love the high medium coverage this is giving me, I refuse to accept how heavy and dry it looks on my skin. I was so excited to test out a dewy, plumping, smoothing foundation today, but instead I got something that performs like a high-coverage, mattifying product. This is a hard pass for me.
