Foundation Friday – @Guerlain L’Essentiel Natural 16H Wear Foundation

February 7, 2020

I love foundation samples. I love even more when they’re of high-end foundations that I wouldn’t even considering purchasing without trying beforehand. Today, I am testing out the @guerlain L’Essentiel Natural 16H Wear Foundation SPF 20 ($60 for 1 ounce – https://shopstyle.it/l/bduNC)!

What it claims:

🔘 A long-wearing liquid foundation with 97-percent naturally-derived ingredients with buildable coverage and a natural-glow finish

🔘 Medium coverage

🔘 Natural finish

🔘 The silky-smooth and creamy texture becomes one with the skin and complexion looks perfected, luminous, and fresh

My experience:

🔘 I used shade 02N.

🔘 Thankfully, I had stockpiled two (2) sample packets of this product because you only get one (1) use out of each. Normally, I can mix the light and medium shades together, but when I started to blend out the light that I had applied, I realized the shade match was good enough on its own.

👎🏻 It suggested you use the foundation on top of the oil they included a sample of. I applied the oil to the right side of my face and my normal primer to the left side. I am slightly more oily on my right side and it did nothing for pore-reduction, so I don’t suggest the oil.

👍🏻👎🏻 In my opinion, the scent is pleasant, but it is quite strong when first applying. I know many people who have skin sensitive to added fragrance, so keep that in mind.

👍🏻 I have been wearing it for seven (7) hours now and I’m super impressed that I am not overly oily. It started with beautiful, natural finish and it has remained that way.

👎🏻 It has bunched up slightly around my nose and has settled in a little more than I’d like on my forehead.

My verdict:

Using a damp beauty sponge, one (1) entire sample packet gave me medium coverage – and that was after building it up on my cheeks. While I do thoroughly enjoy the finish and the overall way it looks and performs on my skin, I will never be able to justify the price tag for something that doesn’t give me full coverage.

FYI, I receive a small commission when you shop via the link listed above. There is no additional cost to you.
