Worth the Hype Wednesday – @farsalicare Skintune Blur Perfecting Primer Serum

February 5, 2020

There may be no more hyped brand than @farsalicare, so when I got a variety sample pack with a @sephora order, I knew I had to test the product I’ve been wanting to try for months – the Skintune Blur Perfecting Primer Serum ($54 for 1 ounce – https://shopstyle.it/l/bdqkV or $22 for .34 ounces – https://shopstyle.it/l/bdqk0). What it claims:

🔘 A hybrid primer-serum that softly blurs the skin, reduces the appearance of pores and imperfections and creates a brightened, fine-tuned effect

🔘 This multifunctional primer-serum is lightweight, hydrating, and leaves a soft, powder-like finish

🔘 It contains vitamin C to brighten and even the look of skin tone, mushroom-derived poria cocos to soothe, and cucumber extract to condition skin

🔘 Achieve a smooth canvas for makeup and a youthful look that lasts all day

My experience:

👍🏻 I like that there’s enough in the sample packet for at least two (2) uses.

🔘 The instructions say you can either use it just on your t-zone or all over my face, so I used it all over my face.

👍🏻 I agree that it has a powder-like finish, but it also feels hydrating. I was quite impressed with that.

👍🏻 My makeup applied on top of it with no issue.

👍🏻👎🏻 I used it underneath a foundation that gives me a smoothing appearance already, but can have a tendency to sink a little into my pores as the day progresses. I have worn that same foundation with other primers and also without any primer and this primer looked like when I had been wearing no primer at all. I saw little to no pore-filling.

👍🏻👎🏻 I have been wearing my makeup for over six (6) hours and it still looks fresh. However, I have been able to achieve these same results with other primers.

My verdict?

In this case, for me, this product does not live up to the hype. While it feels luxurious and smoothing on the skin, once all of my makeup was on, I noticed no difference in the way my skin looked compared to a day in which I wore no primer. Plus, it’s quite pricey. I definitely won’t be purchasing the full size in the future.

FYI, I receive a small commission when you shop via the links listed above. There is no additional cost to you.
