Since, for me, it’s impossible to have a good makeup day without a flawless foundation base, when a method of application I’ve never tried before catches my eye, it won’t be long before I purchase it to test out. This time around, it’s the @realtechniques Blend + Blur Foundation Brush (normally $19.99, but on sale for $11.99 at @ulta – https://shopstyle.it/l/6rvy)!
What it claims:

My experience:
👍🏻 I really enjoy the shape of the entire brush. The handle makes it comfortable to hold and the brush head is large enough to cover a lot of space in a shorter amount of time.
👍🏻 It’s ideal for bringing product down your neck.
🔘 I have used it two (2) times with two (2) different foundations – one (1) compact foundation and one (1) liquid foundation. I also used a different primer on each time.
👎🏻 It didn’t work well with the gripping primer/compact foundation combo. It seemed like it wasn’t allowing the foundation to stick to my face, so it removed a lot nearly every time I would move the brush over my skin.
👍🏻👎🏻 It worked OK with the hydrating primer/liquid foundation combo. It spread easily, but I was still left with brush strokes that I had to pat the brush over to remove.
👎🏻 I attempted to use it for concealer and that was a mistake. Just as it did with the compact foundation, it removed coverage completely in some areas.
👍🏻 It provided me higher coverage than a beauty sponge does.
👍🏻👎🏻 It look me a while to make the foundation on my nose look presentable. I needed to pat it out with the brush to make it work.
👍🏻 It did a fantastic job blending out my cream bronzer.
My verdict?
While it did provide me higher coverage, worked incredibly well for blending out my cream bronzer and is less wasteful than using beauty sponges, it left brush strokes during my foundation application and made getting my nose to look good difficult. I need to use it more to know whether or not I like it. If I end up loving it, expect to see it in a Friday Favorites post!
