Thursday Thoughts – @jeffreestar The Gloss in Diamond Juice

Thursday Thoughts:
I am a lip gloss lover. Always have been and probably always will be. So, when @jeffreestarcosmetics released, what they call, The Gloss ($18 for .15 ounces at @beautylish), I knew I had to try it out!
What it claims:
🔘 Featuring a diverse range of shades that goes from soft and subtle to vibrant and bold
🔘 Designed for effortless application, the streamlined applicator disperses product evenly and easily on lips
🔘 The wet-finish, high-shine formula glides over lips without ever feeling sticky or tacky
🔘 Featuring a delicate crème brûlée scent that’s delectable without being overpowering
My experience:
🔘 I purchased Diamond Juice and it’s described as a soft champagne with gold reflects and a metallic finish.
👍🏻 The shade is stunning and works well with my skin tone.
👍🏻 The packaging is absolutely gorgeous.
👍🏻 I agree with the claim of it being high-shine without feeling sticky or tacky.
👍🏻 The amount of sparkle is incredible and it looks magical in the sunlight.
🔘 As soon as I used this for the first time, I knew I had a dupe in my collection. Thanks to a recommendation by @theluvof_makeup3 a few months back, I own the @makeuprevolution Jewel Collection Lip Topper in the shade Exquisite (normally $6 for .16 ounces, but on sale on their website for $4.60). It has a similar consistency, along with a nearly identical, glittery finish – as you can see from photo 5 (JS swatch is on the bottom and a Revolution swatch is on the top).
My verdict?
Although The Gloss is a beautiful product with eye-catching packaging and a not too high end price tag, to get a similar product and spend about a third of the price will always be the route I take. If you have been dying to try the @jeffreestarcosmetics The Gloss, you won’t be disappointed with your purchase. However, if you have just been looking for a gloss like The Gloss, @makeuprevolution’s Lip Topper is the way to go.
