As soon as the warm weather hits, I have a desire to perfect the face makeup balance between completely matte and an oily mess. Normally to do that, I need to use an illuminating primer, dewy setting spray, or both. So, when I have a chance to try a new one of either of those, my hopes are high! Today, I’m testing out the @cosmedica_skincare Illuminating Rose Gold Facial Serum ($20 for 2 ounces).
What it claims:
🔘 Combine the proven benefits of hyaluronic acid with the instant gratification of pure rose gold
🔘 Highlight high points and add a moisture rich base before make-up
🔘 Multi-beneficial hydrating and plumping combat dryness and aging skin while providing a pretty soft glow
🔘 Can be worn under or over makeup, and used as a highlighting touch-up throughout the day
My experience:
👎🏻 Using this as a foundation primer, I expected it to be as the name suggests – illuminating. However, I didn’t experience nearly as much of that as I had hoped for.
👎🏻 Using this as a highlighter on top of makeup, it removed the foundation that was underneath it.
👍🏻👎🏻 Using this as a hydrating serum (not expecting any glow), it worked fairly well. Not my least hydrating serum, but also not my most.
My verdict?
If I want a glow underneath my makeup, I have less expensive products that illuminate me more. If I want a hydrating serum, I have other products that moisturize my skin to a higher level. This is, by no means, a bad product, I just don’t see a need for it in my current skincare and/or makeup routine.
