Moisturizer Monday – Sorella Apothecary Daily Greens Moisturizer

May 6, 2019

Nothing makes my makeup look worse than dry patches, so a very good moisturizer has become one of my skin prep essentials. Although I have several I really enjoy, I’m always keeping my eye out for my holy grail. So, when @nikirobisonbrows gifted me the @sorellaapothecary Daily Greens Moisturizer ($64 for 2 ounces on their website), I couldn’t wait to try it out!
What it claims:
🔘 Maintains moisture levels while reducing excess sebum
🔘 Eliminates excess oil while adding essential nutrients, leaving matte, shine-free finish
🔘 Soothes irritates and inflamed acne lesions
🔘 Leaves skin appearing more even
Paraben, sulfate, cruelty and gluten-free
🔘 Vegan
🔘 Key ingredients: Niacinamide, Kale, Cucumber, Vitamin C (BV-OSC), Gooseberry + Licorice, Evermat, Phytic Acid, Spirulina and Green tea
My experience:
🔘 I was initially using this as both a day and nighttime moisturizer, but then I read on the label that it says “…for evening repair and balance.” So, I began using it only at night. Now, reading the description on their website, it doesn’t mention anything about applying it only in the evening. Hopefully they have updated their packaging since this one was purchased.
👍🏻 The scent is pleasant, but light.
👍🏻👎🏻 I didn’t find it moisturizing enough as an overnight cream, so I started mixing it with an oil to give me the hydration I needed and that method worked very well.
👍🏻👎🏻 As a day cream, it was lightweight and moisturizing enough. However, I never noticed that it eliminated excess oil.
🔘 Since I don’t have irritated skin or inflamed acne lesions, I can’t speak to that claim.
My verdict?
While I enjoy the texture of this moisturizer and found that it worked well enough, I don’t at all think it’s worth $64 for only 2 ounces of product. I will continue to use it until it’s empty, but will not be repurchasing.
What is your go-to daily moisturizer?
