Throwdown Thursday – Becca Cosmetics Highlighters Liquid vs. Powder

February 21, 2019

As you may have seen when I posted what I received in my @beautylish 2019 Lucky Bag, one of the items included inside was the @beccacosmetics Glow on the Go Shimmering Skin Perfector Moonstone ($20, but a retail value of $32, from Beautylish). The kit comes with a Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight and Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed, both in the shade Moonstone (described as a pale, incandescent gold). I have never owned the same shade of highlight in both a liquid and powder formula, so I thought I would test out today which will reign supreme!

My experience:
🔘 I applied the liquid to the left side of my face and the pressed to the right side.
👍🏻 I was impressed that when I blended the liquid highlight out with my finger, it didn’t remove any of the makeup underneath it.
👎🏻 Although I have tried a couple of pressed Becca highlighters in the past and have been incredibly satisfied with the amount of glow they provide, the shade Moonstone in that formula leaves a lot to be desired.
👍🏻 I have been wearing both for six (6) hours and neither have faded.
👍🏻 As you can tell by the swatches, the liquid highlight packs more of a punch and that holds true when applied to the face as well.
My verdict?
Even though I went in sure that I would prefer the pressed over the liquid version, I’m here to admit when I’m wrong and crown the Spotlight formula as the victor! However, since I own both now and don’t want the product to go to waste, I will likely be applying the liquid first and then layering the powder on top.
Do you prefer liquid or powder highlight? As I said, I’m normally a powder gal, but I’m starting to rethink that after this throwdown!
